Welcome!

Welcome to Scroll & Sword! If you don't know how you got here, know that this is a place where you can find the writing of the talented and eternally modest writer Peter Adam. Hey, that's me!

I'm pursuing a career as a fiction writer and novelist in the glorious country of Canada. The problem with the aforementioned glorious country of Canada is that, like most countries, it's incredibly difficult to find a publisher for your story. Typically, you need to have some kind of publishing credit, a masterly crafted story that borders on the unattainable perfection, and a great deal of luck in order to have your novel published. Add to that the fact that a literary agent is literally a one in a million person here (we have about thirty in the country), many Canadian authors simply don't get published.

Gee, that's pretty depressing, huh? Well don't fret, reader. I'm going to get published, and you'll have an opportunity to read my novel, Live Fast, Die Handsome. That's not a very humble thing for me to say, but I know I've got the charisma, the determination, and above all the story that warrants publication.

So around this point, you might be asking yourself what this blog is for. That's a pretty fair question. Essentially, the idea is that a popular author is a published author. Each and every one of you that follow my blog, share my stories, like/tweet/post/favorite/whatever my work improves my prospects. Truthfully, although the sappiness of what I'm about to say physically pains me, I can't do this without you guys. If I've learned anything up to this point, it's that simply writing the story is the easiest part of what a writer does.

"But, Peter," you ask, "How can I like/tweet/post/favorite you if I don't know anything about you?" I want you to know that I'm not asking you to accept me on blind faith. I want you to help me promote my work, which you'll get an opportunity to see for yourself, solely because you like what you see and you want to see more like it. For this reason, I'm going to put my next point in fancy bold letters.

All My Short Stories Are Available For Free

Yup, you read that right. I write short stories for the love of the written word. They're not intended to be a vehicle to fame and riches, that's what my novel is for. You can find my stories right here on this blog, or with my Wattpad account right here. If you find yourself feeling as passionately about my work as I do myself, you can support me by donating via paypal, or purchasing the story through the Amazon marketplace. Or, if you're a publisher, we can talk about getting my novel in print.

So without further ado, I'm going to go ahead and put up my first story, The House at the End of All Roads, and maybe see about getting a tip jar put on this blog.
